Matchlock and wheellock firing according to French 17th Century regulations

Cool video from CapandBall, a Hungarian historical gun group.

In the video, the three infantryman demonstrate the standard procedure for firing matchlock and wheelock firearms during the first part of the Thirty Years War.

One day I’ll get to fire one of the badboys off. One day. For now I’ll just watch videos like this in envy and write about people who fire these guns.

But definitely check CapandBall’s Youtube page out, since they have some cool slo-mo videos, showing the difference in ignition system of these old black powder firearms.
