Here’s a little something for my fellow history and costume nerds will enjoy. A late 1580s high noblewoman gown made for a history student’s thesis.
UPEI History Honours student Alison Loney recently created a Renaissance era dress as part of her Honours thesis. The dress—which consists of 13 different pieces—is made from more than 30 yards of fabric, took about 320 hours to complete, and weighs over 15 pounds.
I cringe everything I hear the word polyester come up in discussion about modern recreations of historical garments, but Alison rocked this project. Gorgeous work on a complicated and in-depth design.
